Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister Nurul Islam on Tuesday said that the government would call for explanations from 10 recruiting agencies on allegation of monopoly and syndication in recruitment of Bangladeshi workers for Malaysia.

At a press conference at Probashi Kalyan Bhaban, he said that the government was collecting information about the recruiting agencies and reviewing the information to take action against them.
Replying to a query, the minister said that the Bangladeshi labour market in Malaysia had not come to a complete closure but remained open following the Malaysian government’s recent move.

He said that the Malaysian government was bringing systematic changes in the procedure of overseas employees’ recruitment and once the changes were made, the labour market would be normal.
