The Nepali Embassy in Qatar has banned 55 recruitment agencies from supplying workers to Qatar for charging higher fee than the maximum amount fixed by the government and failing to ensure committed salary and works.
“We have barred the agencies from sending migrant workers and have rejected their demand letter,” said embassy’s Labour Attaché Indra Dev Pandey.
Meanwhile, the embassy has also written to the Department of Foreign Employment to take action against the agencies. The department, however, has not provided any details on whether it has initiated action against them.
“After going through statements of the affected workers along with their contract documents, we have written to the department to take appropriate action against the agencies. But we are yet to hear a word from the department,” Pandey said.
