Labour Migration and Recruitment practices play an important role in the cycle of migration, from the initial stage of recruitment, to pre-departure training, to the signing of contracts, to repatriation. In light of the influence of the recruitment process, the need for collective global initiatives to strategically address the problems in labour recruitment has never been more crucial than today.
The Open Working Group on Labour Migration and Recruitment took the lead in organizing the thematic session on the Labour Migration and Recruitment in the 2016 Peoples Global Action on Migration Development and Human Rights (PGA) in Dhaka Bangladesh on 6-7 December 2016. The discussion focused on Urgent and critical issues that need to be addressed in recruitment reform, good practices, recommendations and ways forward to move the campaign on recruitment reform specifically recommendations and talking points for the 2016 GFMD in Dhaka Bangladesh.
