MANILA — The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has arrested four suspects for large-scale illegal recruitment purportedly for non-existent jobs in Malaysia, New Zealand and Paris, France.

In a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Holy Wednesday, PNP-CIDG chief Director Roel Obusan identified the suspects as Remigio “Mhar” Mariano, Jr., Julieta Lipit, Shiela Marie Amil and Marie Keith Velasco.

Mariano was arrested by detectives of the National Capital Region-CIDG (NCR-CIDG) led by regional chief Senior Supt. Belli Tamayo during an entrapment operation on April 6, 2017 at about 9:30 a.m. in Pasay City.

He was an employee of Clarliemae Recruitment Agency and One Global Agency.

Mariano was arrested inside a fastfood restaurant in front of the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) Bldg., along Macapagal Avenue after receiving money from a certain Myla Manlapaz.

Seized from his possession were 10 pieces of Php 1,000 bills.

In the complaints filed before the CIDG, the victims were allegedly made to pay Php 20,000 to Php 40,000 as processing fee and training fee as waiters and waitresses in Malaysia.
