FROM being a government-to-government arrangement, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has decided to open the deployment of Filipino nurses to Germany to private recruitment agencies.

Based on POEA Governing Board Resolution 4-2015, it is already allowing private recruitment firms to recruit aside from the Triple Win Project between the Philippines and Germany governments.

“We will allow the hiring and deployment of Filipino nurses to Germany outside of the Triple Win Project,” said Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz.

Back in March 2013, the Philippines and Germany signed the labor agreement on the job placement of Filipino health professionals, particularly nurses, in Germany.

Under the labor deal, recruitment may only be carried out by the POEA’s in-house placement facility and the Federal Employment Agency (BA) of Germany.

Baldoz said the change in the deployment policy was prompted by the high demand for professional nurses in Germany.

“The resolution now paves the way for the immediate hiring and deployment of nurses to Germany,” said Baldoz.
